Comfort Food and Comfort Reading –– the perfect companions at Cheltenham
Alexander took to the stage in Cheltenham yesterday with fellow author and long-time friend, Anna Marshall. The sun shone outside as the audience took their seats in a converted 1930s cinema, now the charming Daffodil Restaurant.
Anna has created a Scotland Street Cookbook exploring the characters through their love of food and giving us all a chance to recreate their favourites. The two regaled audience members and firm Scotland Street fans with the latest news from the neighbours as an afternoon tea was served – based around some of the recipes in the new book. A new novel in the Scotland series is published in November – The Stellar Debut of Galactica MacFee
Cheltenham Festival takes place every October and Alexander has been a regular there for more than 20 years. For Anna this was not only her first time at Cheltenham, one of the biggest and brightest book festivals in the world, but also her first event as an author. Not a nerve in sight and the two were expertly chaired by Frankie Burr. A very good time was had by all.
So now it is your turn to enjoy Bertie’s much-loved Panforte di Sienna, Angus Lordie’s famous cheese scones or host your own Scotland Street supper. Read more about the new books here.
