Marian Pallister is the author of a number of highly acclaimed books including Cruachan: The Hollow MountainThe Crinan Canal and Not a Plack the Richer, and is an expert on the social history of Argyll. In a video made specially for our series on the COP26 climate summit, Marian acknowledges the ‘dirty secret’ of Argyll’s rural idyll in its history of mining, but points towards a more hopeful future in which Scotland leads the way in clean energy innovation.

Today at COP26, the the theme of the discussion is Energy, and the debates will centre around accelerating the global transition to clean energy. As Marian shows, Scotland has the potential to set an example to the rest of the world in its adoption of clean energy solutions.
