The Authors
Charles MacLean
Charles MacLean is the author of 20 books on whisky, including the standard work on whisky brands, Scotch Whisky, and the authoritative Malt Whisky, both of which were short-listed for Glenfiddich Awards. His Scotch Whisky: A Liquid History won Wine & Spirits Book of the Year in the 2004 James Beard Awards and Best Drink Book in the World at the Food Media Awards. He is a consultant to the whisky industry, and to Bonhams International Auctioneers, and sits on the judging panel of the International Wine & Spirits Awards.
Hans Offringa
Hans Offringa has written 50 books about whisky, including the bestselling A Field Guide to Whisky. He is a Keeper of the Quaich and the only Dutchman to have been inducted into the Whisky Hall of Fame. In 2017 he received the Lifetime International Ambassador of the Spirit of Speyside Whisky Festival Award, and in 2019 was made Honorary Ambassador of the Scotch Malt Whisky Society. He and his wife Becky (The Whisky Couple) spend their time in the USA, Scotland and the Netherlands.
Dave Broom
Dave Broom is an internationally celebrated spirits expert. Dave has built up a considerable international following, with regular training and educational visits to Japan, France, Holland, Scandinavia, Germany, Africa and North America. He is involved in whisky education and acts as a consultant to major distillers on tasting techniques as well as training professionals and the public. Dave's previous books include three editions of The World Atlas of Whisky, Whisky: The Manual, Gin: The Manual, Rum: The Manual, The Japanese Way of Whisky and A Sense of Place.
