It’s a fantastic week for Alycia Pirmohamed and her debut poetry collection Another Way to Split Water, which has been longlisted for not one, but two awards!
Another Way to Split Water has been included on the longlist for the Laurel Prize, which celebrates environmental poetry and is run in association with the Poetry School. Find out more about the full longlist here.
Alycia said ‘Being on the Laurel Prize list for environmental poetry means so much. Thank you to the judges for acknowledging this aspect of my work, and for really seeing what I try to do in my poetry.’
This stunning collection has also been longlisted for the Michael Murphy Memorial Prize run by the English Association, for debut collections. Alycia said of this prize ‘It’s surreal to be on a longlist with so, so many poets I genuinely love and look up to. I’m grateful to the judges for seeing something in my very first poetry collection — thank you!’
We send our huge congratulations to Alycia and keep our fingers crossed!
