In Praise of Booksellers and Booklovers Everywhere

This is Independent Bookshop Week in the UK and to celebrate, the author Alexander McCall Smith has written a short poem, ‘Getting Lost in a Bookshop’.

As we find ourselves moving slowly out of the restrictions imposed in the battle against Covid-19, Bookshops across the UK are either opening up or preparing to open over the next few weeks. This poem is for those who work there, those who have cried because they can’t visit their local bookshop, those who won’t order online, and those who will be first in line when the doors open once again.
