A look ahead to March events

Please note that unfortunately we have cancelled our author events until further notice in light of the coronavirus pandemic. We hope to reschedule as many events as possible so please keep an eye on our website for updates.

We have a jam-packed events programme coming up this March as our authors are gearing up to head out on the road. Here’s a taste of what’s to come…

First up, we’re excited to launch the brand new thriller The Blood is Still by Douglas Skelton at the Wash Bar in Edinburgh on Thursday 5th March, 7pm. Tickets are FREE and Douglas will be in conversation with Dr Noir herself, Jacky Collins.

Later this month, Douglas will also be appearing at Aye Write Book Festival alongside Denzil Meyrick in an unmissable crime writing extravaganza. Tickets available here – get them while you can!

We’re also thrilled to announce that Iain Maloney will be coming over to the UK from Japan (fresh from a book tour of Australia) this month to promote his brilliant new book The Only Gaijin in the Village: A Year Living in Rural Japan. With events in Edinburgh, Glasgow, Aberdeen, St Andrews and Manchester, make a date to see Iain on one of his rare UK appearances.

Iain Maloney’s not the only Birlinn author venturing down to the north of England this month – Patrick Laurie is taking part in a special pre-publication event for his new book Native: Life in a Vanishing Landscape at Words by the Water Festival in Keswick on Friday 13th March. And we can’t wait for the new festival Words Weekend to pitch up at the Lowry in Salford at the end of the month, when our award-winning novelist Sheena Kalayil will be discussing her latest novel The Wild Wind with Manchester-based writers Anita Sethi and Jennifer Nansubuga Makumbi on Sat 28th March.

Closer to home, we have a whole host of authors taking part in Glasgow’s fabulous Aye Write Book Festival, including Maggie Craig, Trevor Royle, Paul Murton, Jim Carruth and Andrew Greig. We’ll also be launching Andrew Greig’s new poetry collection Later That Day at StAnza Festival on Saturday 7th March and at Blackwell’s in Edinburgh on Thursday 19th March.

All these dates (and many more) are listed on our events page, where you’ll be able to find out more info and book your tickets.

See you at a Birlinn event soon!
