Reminiscences of a Jacobite Zoom Launch
Reminiscences of a Jacobite by Michael Nevin
Zoom Book Launch – November 5th 2020, 1:00-1.30 PM
November 5th 1746: immediately after his escape to France, Prince Charles Edward Stuart writes a memorandum to King Louis XV asking him for 20,000 troops to go back and finish what he sees as the unfinished business of the ‘45.
November 5th 2020: to mark the tri-centenary of the birth in December 1720 of perhaps the most controversial figure in Scottish and British history, a new book is being published by Birlinn, Edinburgh, giving Prince Charlie’s perspective on the Rising that he initiated. Drawing on the Prince’s own handwritten account of the campaign, his public declarations and private conversations, and observations of him by contemporary artists, friends and supporters, the book seeks to understand the Prince’s thinking in Reminiscences of a Jacobite.
At 1.00 PM on Thursday November 5th 2020, the book’s author, Michael Nevin, will give a short (10-15 minute) introduction to the book on Zoom, open to any member of the public, press or media who wishes to join. There will be an opportunity for questions afterwards. The call will open ten minutes before the start, at 12:50 PM, and will close latest after Q&A at 1:30 PM. The Zoom invitation is below. All who wish to attend are very welcome.
