Patrick Laurie at Paisley Book Festival

Patrick Laurie and Kapka Kassabova live in conversation with Malachy Tallack

Authors From Home Tickets: Free

The subject of Kapka Kassabova’s work, she says, is ‘the alchemy of places and people’. To the Lake, her follow-up to the multi-award-winning Border, explores the legacies of conflict and exile in the southern Balkans, where Albania, Greece and North Macedonia meet. Patrick Laurie’s place is Galloway, where he lives and farms. In his debut book, Native, he tells of the deep bonds between people and land, and the losses — cultural and environmental — that have accumulated in this region. Understanding our connection to the land surrounding us has never been more vital. Join these authors in conversation with Festival Guest Curator Malachy Tallack. Part of the A Place for Hope: land, loss and the politics of care strand curated by Malachy Tallack
