Patrick Baker at Kendal Mountain Literature Festival (Boardman Tasker Awards)


We are delighted to invite you to the 37th Boardman Tasker Award for Mountain Literature, featuring shortlisted Birlinn author, Patrick Baker, with his beautiful book The Unremembered Places.

Join us for a 2 hour special where you will hear from all the shortlisted authors and then find out who is the winner!

Established in 1983 to commemorate the lives of Peter Boardman and Joe Tasker, the Boardman Tasker Charitable Trust celebrates their legacy by presenting the annual Award for Mountain Literature, presented to the author of an original work, which has made an outstanding contribution to mountain literature. Who will be the 37th winner of the coveted Boardman Tasker Award?

The shortlisted books are The Unremembered Places by Patrick BakerWhere there’s a Will by Emily Chappell, Slatehead by Peter Goulding, Two Trees Make A Forest by Jessica J. Lee and The Uncrowned King of Mont Blanc by Peter Foster.

The Boardman Tasker Shortlisted Authors Event is hosted by Stephen Venables. Stephen will chat with shortlisted authors and will include readings from the authors. This will be followed by the Chair of Judges Katie Ives announcing the 2020 winner.

This year there were 22 books submitted on a broad range of topics and the Judging Panel for the 2020 Boardman Tasker Award is: Katie Ives (Chair of Judges), David Canning & Mike Kosterlitz.

It will be a very special evening!
