Mary Miller at Wigtown Book Festival
(THIS EVENT HAS NOW PASSED)
Mary Miller discusses her moving new biography of one of Scotland’s great heroines. In 1932, Galloway farmer’s daughter Jane Haining went to work at a Jewish school in Budapest. When the Second World War broke out, she went back to Hungary to try to protect the school’s children, a course of action that would lead to her arrest by the Gestapo and her death at Auschwitz.
