Galloway is sometimes seen as a backwater. But in early medieval times it was a true cultural and linguistic crossroads, bringing together – in peace and in violence – Ancient Britons, Anglo-Saxons, Norse folk and Gaels. In this special event, Professor Ted Cowan and Galloway Gaelic expert Michael Ansell recreate a lost age. There will also be readings from new writing commissioned as part of the festival’s The Lost Province project.
