Cymera Festival: Future Visions with Lucy Cruickshanks and Jamie Mollart

Resource scarcity and corrupt governments shape the near future Britain of Lucy Cruickshanks and Jamie Mollart’s latest books. In Cruickshank’s The Liberation’s Child, two survivors of genocide, Thea and Dom, collide as they try to uncover the truth behind an illegal adoption ring and find a missing baby. In Kings of a Dead World, Jamie Mollart imagines a society where Earth’s remaining supplies are being rationed by making humankind hibernate. In the sleeping city, elderly Ben struggles with his limited waking time and the disease which is stealing his wife from him. Outside, lonely Janitor Peruzzi craves the family he never knew. Around them both, dissatisfaction is growing. The city is about to wake.
