Who was Adam Smith? Adam Smith, ‘Father of Economics’, was an 18th century economist and philosopher, a leading figure in the Scottish Enlightenment, and author of The Theory of Moral Sentiments and The Wealth of Nations.

The Adam Smith Global Foundation was founded in 2012 in Adam Smith’s birth town of Kirkcaldy. The foundation aims to deliver initiatives that will commemorate his work on an international scale, as well as raise awareness of the role that Kirkcaldy played in his life. They seek to advance the prevention and relief of poverty through projects which will increase employability for young people and act as a catalyst for regeneration.

Alexander will speak as part of the tercentenary events programme, to be hosted in Smith’s home town of Kirkcaldy.
