We are delighted to share the news that Holy Boys by Andrés N Ordorica has been longlisted for the Jhalak Poetry Prize. This prestigious prize, which celebrates the achievements of writers of colour in the UK, is marking its tenth anniversary this year. The Jhalak Prize awards are administered by the Jhalak Foundation, a UK charity that focusses on literary and artistic initiatives that celebrate and support diversity, inclusion and equity.

Andrés’ stunning collection is informed by faith, sexuality, loss and love, with linguistically rich language which charts a queer coming of age. His writing has spoken to many readers, and Gutter Magazine said ‘there is a hopefulness and joy that permeates this book’, while The Skinny said it was ‘written with a mastery of language and imagery.’

The Jhalak Prize shortlist will be revealed on the 14th April, with the winner being announced on 10th June.

Find out more about the shortlist here. Congratulations to Andrés on this recognition!
