Set on a farming estate in the upper reaches of the River Spey, Of Stone and Sky by Merryn Glover follows several generations of a shepherding family in a paean to the bonds between people, their land and way of life. Key to the novel is the relationship between people and the landscape they inhabit, and it features the stunning Scottish Highlands that Merryn calls home. This ancient landscape is beautiful, but also at risk from the human impact of climate change. In this video, made in light of the COP26 conference, Merryn asks how we live in harmony with the land, and where we see ourselves as part of the ecosystem. Today at COP26, the delegates are discussing Adaptation, Loss and Damage, and it is clear that as individuals we must adapt our actions and our mentality if we are to forge a more constructive relationship with the natural world.
