Judith McClure read history at Somerville College, Oxford 1970-1973 and was a doctoral student, research fellow and part-time lecturer in Early Medieval History and Latin at the Universities of Oxford and Liverpool 1973-81. She was a teacher and then Head of History and Politics at the School of St Helen and St Katharine, Abingdon, Assistant Head of Kingswood School, Bath, Head of the Royal School, Bath and finally Head of St George’s School, Edinburgh, until her retirement in 2009. She has been much involved in educational groups at all levels, including the Scotland-China Educational Network.
